No Heroic Measures Produced by Norman
Baxley and Associates, Inc.
No Heroic Measures examines some of the issues raised in the Claire Conroy
case in New Jersey:
This dramatic film portrays Judy Brett's struggle to have her incompetent aunt's feeding tube removed. The story is told within the context of court hearings held in the nursing home where her aunt resides, and in a courtroom. The court hears opinions from physicians, a nurse, and a professor of ethics concerning the appropriateness of the request. In contrast to the legal and philosophical arguments presented in these hearings, additional scenes present the emotional unrest and ethical quandary often experienced by those staff responsible for carrying out a no treatment order. Color, 23 minutes,
