Where Beans Grow

Produced by Shelwag Productions

In 1950's Oklahoma, young Hallie Crandell must come to terms with her mentally ill father and his obsession to build an amusement park on his bean field.

The stigma of having a "kooky" father, the torment of small-town gossip, and the pain of adolescence outline Hallie's struggle. Hallie falters between the desire to believe in her father and the pressure to believe what others say about him. She resents the humiliation which results from her father's antics and craves a life of normalcy.

The film serves up an intriguing cast of characters and a series of tense and telling events. It dramatizes the necessity for compassion for mentally unstable people and their families, while following one young woman's progress toward acceptance of her father, and ultimately, acceptance of herself.
